Couponing 101

How to get started with couponing!

Acquire Coupons
  • Buy the local papers each Sunday (I usually get the Sunday Messenger, and also a Columbus Dispatch)
  • There are 3 main companies that put out the inserts each week,SmartSource(SS), RedPlum(RP), and Proctor & Gamble (PG)
  • Print them from online (Remember most places only allow 2 printed coupons per day)
  • Have friends or family save their coupons for you
  • Sign-Up for store emails
  • Recycling Plants
  • Dumpster Dive!
  • Hotels who offer guests the Sunday paper
You Have Coupons, Now Use Them
  • Organize your coupons(I personally use baseball card holders inside of a 3-ring binder)
  •  Know your store's coupon policy
  •  Wait for a good sale, check the weekly sales ads!
  • Match-up coupons per store(and also organize them by store for easy transactions)
  • Order items that are sold out, or get a rain check. Never be afraid to ask all they can say is no.
  • Be open to a variety of brands, If you can get a free or cheap item, the savings is worth trying a new brand.
